In the context of add-on construction for a garage
and a children’s room, a glass pyramid was originally planned
as a link between the 2-storey main building and the existing 1-storey
annexe. After further consideration, it was decided that the husband-and-wife
artists Heinze would design the pyramid. There emerged a ceramic
canopy that arches up over the building. The name House of Dreams
was born. A construction of metal, stucco support panels, ceramics
and glue was achieved. In months of preparatory work, the husband-and-wife
artist team of Heinze burned ceramics, split ceramic tiles and glued
them onto support panels. The surfaces come to life with mythical
animals of various colours and shapes. The highlight of the artistic
work is the dome: a giant concrete shell studded with ceramic mosaics.
During the day the shining surface provides a varied display of
colours, while by night spotlights create a mystical image.
